Its your favorite redneck engineer building an apartment for his dad in his backyard, with another update on what I got done this week

Friday I roughed in the drain plumbing in the bathroom. Keeping the bathroom to a 4x8 area to increase the amount of livable space in the apartment. It'll be tight, but it will work. In 10 years if he's still with me we may have to revisit and make it bigger if he's more feeble, but for now it will work just fine. I bought a 32"x32" shower from menards, a friend gave me a toilet he had extra, and I got a vanity and sink on clearance for $49.

I started sealing up the area where the water will be, I decided to just insulate the 3'x4' area where I really need to, to reduce the amount of insulation needed. I used mylar backed foam insulation, as well as some fiberglass (oh god I'm so itchy) foam insulation a friend gave me when I bought the building.

You can see the 6 gallon hot water heater I bought online. I put a 20amp GFCI circuit down there, and the water heater is a 120v unit, so I can plug it directly in to that. I also wired a porcelain light socket, to use a 75 watt reptile enclosure heating bulb in, to keep the area warm so no frozen pipes. Thats in addition to the heat tape. Better safe than sorry.

I'm hoping to have a flushing toilet by the end of the week.

We also are getting carpet installed in about a week. Carpet prices have gone insane. Its gonna cost close to $500 to get it installed.
