It is hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is next month and it is Canadian Thanksgiving today! So to get ourselves prepared, I have joined a group of talented bloggers, hosted by Ella Claire, to share Thanksgiving side dish ideas. I decided, as usual, to make something really simple but also really delicious. This recipe is also really easy to travel with if you are bringing a side dish to your host or hostess.
To start with, the fillo dough cups were pre-made. I found mine in the bread aisle but I have also found them in the freezer section.
I made my own cranberry sauce, but you can also purchase pre-made. For the brie, I removed the rind with a knife and then diced the cheese into 1/4″ to 1/2″ cubes. I placed a spoonful of cranberry sauce in the bottom of the fillo cup and then added the cheese cube. Following the directions on the fillo dough package, I baked them at 350 degrees until the cheese was melted and just started to turn brown – about 12 minutes.
I told you it was easy! A few minutes after I finished photographing these, my family came home and they were gone within minutes. For Thanksgiving, I would do two packages.
And now here are more recipes for perfect side dishes..
