Christmas Front Porch Decorating Ideas

I always love dressing up our front porch for the holidays. The winters can be really dark and rainy around here, so some pretty decor and twinkling lights can really help to brighten things up.  A festive front porch just makes it so much nicer to come home to!

Today, I’m joinging Taryn from Taryn Whiteaker for her Christmas front porch hop. I’ll be sharing our Christmas front porch along with 10 other beautiful Christmas porch ideas to help inspire you for the season.  You’re sure to find something that really sparks your creativity, so grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the tours!

Vintage Christmas Front Porch

I went a little more simple with our front porch this year and wanted to do a bit of a “vintage” feeling.  We still have to put up our house lights, but, otherwise, it’s pretty much done.  Just a little more glow is needed. lol!

Flocked Trees in Galvanized Buckets

I found the two galvanized buckets at Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago and quickly snatched them up.  They’re obviously not truly “vintage” but I loved the look of them. Since we don’t have a real tree in the house, I thought the buckets would be perfect to hold a couple of small trees on the porch instead. I added some DIY flocking to the trees for that wintery feeling and it looks just like a light snow had fallen. So pretty! NOTE: If you haven’t tried flocking powder yet, you need to give it a go.  It’s highly addictive and you’ll want to flock everything in sight!

Vintage Sleighs

I don’t know what it is about sleighs and sleds, but I love them!  I’ve picked up a few at some local vintage markets and always have to hold myself back from buying more. They’re just so cute and always so much fun to style.  I also like that I can keep them up through the winter time so they get used for more than just one month.

Faux Presents

Faux presents are a really inexpensive way to add some color and interest to any Christmas vignette. I use really thick Christmas wrapping paper and make sure that they’re somewhat sheltered from the elements.  I’m not sure the ones that are directly on the patio will last for the full season, but the ones on the sled are a little more protected and seem to be okay. Lucky you if you live somewhere that you don’t have to worry about the snow and rain! If you live somewhere really wet, you could try painting various wood blocks to make them look like presents and then just add some ribbon.

Christmas Basket Wreath

If you remember my fall front porch from this year, this basket wreath might look a little bit familiar. To transition to winter, I just took off the fall sign, replaced the fall stems with some flocked winter ones, and added a buffalo check ribbon and a few hanging pinecones. Of course, I left the twinkle lights in there as that’s probably my favorite part! They’re battery operated lights that have a built in timer, so they come on automatically at 4:00 each evening.  They make it a little easier to tolerate our early winter nights.

The ribbon is a soft, cozy material and I just love it!  It’s just attached with some floral wire so it’s easy to change out. I have a feeling that this basket wreath will be sticking around throughout the winter months.

Christmas Planter

I was planning on making my own DIY Christmas planter you can see previous ones HERE, HERE, and HERE, but I saw this one at Superstore for a good price and decided to just buy one. I mean, it even had a matching buffalo check ribbon!  I still have a few birch logs and maybe some berry branches that I’ll add, but I need to find where I put them!

Thanks so much for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed the little tour of our Christmas front porch.
